Expect heavy showers in region from tomorrow

New Delhi, June 14

Reeling under persistent heatwave, the Northwest today experienced some relief as temperatures came down. The IMD said scattered to widespread rains are expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi between June 16 and 18, predicting a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2-3 °C during the next three days.

Under the influence of western disturbances and lower level easterlies, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall was expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and east Uttar Pradesh during June 16 to 18, it said.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad between June 16 and 18, Himachal and Uttarakhand on June 16 and 17 and north Punjab on June 16, it added.

“There will be a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degree C over Northwest India during the next three days and no significant change thereafter,” the weather office predicted.

Meanwhile, conditions are also becoming favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon during the next two to three days.
