New Delhi, July 5

The Noida police on Tuesday arrested former Zee TV anchor Rohit Ranjan in the FIR lodged against him by the Congress for peddling a misleading Rahul Gandhi video.

Earlier, he thwarted the Chhattisgarh Police from arresting him.

Ranjan also tweeted that the Raipur police had arrived at his Ghaziabad house to arrest him without informing the local cops.

After the Ghaziabad police stepped in, the Noida cops made the arrest.

Ranjan recently reported that Rahul Gandhi had described the killers of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur as children whereas Rahul had actually made the remarks in respect of the SFI protesters who had attacked his Wayanad office.

Zee TV later apologised for the mistake and terminated the service of its two anchors.

The Congress, however, has filed complaints in the matter in seven states. Former minister Rajyavardhan Rathore has also been booked in Bilaspur for “sharing the fake video” on Twitter.
