In his farewell speech M Venkaiah Naidu said he never aspired to be the President and will not turn into a dissident

He said people expect Parliament to discuss, debate and not disrupt

“Respect is declining everywhere and this is because the value systems are declining. Keep that in mind,” he advised MPs

AAP MP from Punjab, Raghav Chadha said: “A person remembers his first experience like first day in school…I will always remember you as my first Chairman.”

  • My wish is that Parliament functions well... thankful and moved by your love. — Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-President
  • His famous one-liners are wit-liners. There’s depth and substance in what he says. He worked on the principle — let the government propose, let Opposition oppose, let the House dispose. — Narendra Modi, PM
