New Delhi, Oct 27

France today assured Delhi  of “strongly” supporting the “Make in India” initiative.

French company Dassault Aviation is providing 36 Rafale fighter jets, DCNS is making six submarines and is in the race to make six more. Missile maker MBDA is collaborating with India and Thales display-maker is long-established here.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met her France counterpart Florence Parly, who is on a three-day visit to India, at the South Block today. A statement said the duo reviewed developments in defence cooperation where France is a major partner.
