New Delhi, September 20
On the second anniversary of the surgical strikes, the government has planned a countrywide outreach to tell about the success of the strikes carried out by the Army’s Special Forces on multiple terror-launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Sources said countrywide, there will be shows explaining the surgical strikes (carried out on September 28, 2016) and the impact these had. A display is also planned in New Delhi where movies on the strikes are likely to be shown and static equipment displayed. The functions will be held between September 28 and 30. The government had observed the first anniversary of the strikes.
Incidentally, PM Narendra Modi will be addressing the top commanders of the three armed forces on September 28 — an annual feature.
The surgical strikes were India’s reaction to the terror attack at the Uri Army camp in J&K on September 18, 2016. A total of 17 soldiers were killed.
Yesterday, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had announced that the government will be “celebrating” the anniversary of the surgical strikes.
