Hours before Bihar polls for the first Phase on Wednesday, LJP president Chirag Paswan sharpened attack against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over allegations of corruption, claiming that “jail is the right place” for him. “It is not possible that Nitish Kumar was not involved in scams,” Paswan said, an observation that earned him criticism from several BJP leaders.
In retaliation, Nitish Kumar said some people were “acting at the behest of their advisers” and attacking him, thereby hinting at ex-JDU vice-president Prashant Kishor advising Chirag. Kumar also said “we are concerned about nepotism”, an apparent reference to the LJP chief who stepped into the shoes of his father, late Ram Vilas Paswan, and JD-U’s Tejashwi Yadav, his main opponent in these elections.
“Those who do not have any knowledge or experience are speaking against me at behest of their advisers. We are not interested in campaign, we are concerned about nepotism. We consider whole Bihar as one family but for few, only blood relatives are their family,” Nitish Kumar was quoted as saying at a rally today.
