New Delhi, July 23
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur today targeted the TMC government in West Bengal and the AAP government in Delhi. Addressing media, Thakur claimed corruption was at its peak under Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal.
He accused Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of shielding the “corrupt” after Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the Delhi excise policy over alleged procedural lapses.
“You have sheltered the corrupt. The way you couldn’t respond to any of BJP’s allegations shows that the L-G’s recommendation to the Ministry of Home Affairs holds ground. Corrupt ministers should resign,” Thakur said.
The L-G recommended a CBI probe after a report by the Chief Secretary indicated a financial quid pro quo at the top political level. The report alleged the Delhi excise policy was implemented with the aim of “benefitting” private liquor barons.
