Mumbai, October 16
Omprakash Nimbalkar, Shiv Sena MP from Osmanabad, escaped with minor injuries today after a youth attacked him with a pen knife while he was out campaigning for a party candidate.
The police said the incident happened at Naigaon Padoli village in Osmanabad district while Nimbalkar along with Sena candidate Kailash Patil was campaigning for Monday’s Assembly election.
Shortly after Nimbalkar alighted from his car to talk to villagers, a youth identified as Ajinkya Takle jumped on the MP and tried to stab him with a knife. Nimbalkar parried the attack, sustaining minor injuries on the hand, police said. Party workers chased down Takle and handed him over to the police.
However, Takle later escaped from a police vehicle, according to officials. — TNS
