Local BJP leader shot at in UP

Ballia, July 16

A local BJP leader was among three persons shot at by unidentified assailants here on Monday, police said.

SP Sriparna Ganguly said 32-year-old Murlidhar Verma was attacked when he was going to neighbouring Mau district on a motorcycle along with his wife.

Apart from Verma’s wife Priyanka, another person identified as Ajit Yadav also sustained injuries.

All injured were taken to Belthara Road government hospital, from where they were referred to Varanasi, police said. PTI
