New Delhi, January 29

The Lok Sabha on Friday was adjourned until Monday after President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament and the laying of the Economic Survey 2020-2021 on the table of the lower house.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid the Economic Survey, to make projections in respect of Indian economic revival over the next fiscal, the challenges being faced across sectors and the impact of Covid on the economy.

Amid the short proceedings of the House presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, opposition Congress kept raising slogans demanding the repeal of farm laws. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was in the House.

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was on his feet throughout asking for the farm laws to be rescinded.

The Speaker admonished the Congress saying, "Is what you are doing proper? You should maintain Covid- appropriate behaviour."

The Lok Sabha Speaker earlier allowed MPs to sit in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha as in the Monsoon Session to maintain the Covid protocol-mandated social distancing.

The Speaker adjourned the House after the presentation of the Economic Survey and obituary references to past and sitting MPs who died in the intervening period.

Former home minister and Ropar ex-MP Buta Singh was also remembered in the obituary references.
