Miami: A performance artist shook up the crowd at the Art Basel show in Miami Beach on Saturday when he grabbed a banana that had been duct-taped to a gallery wall and ate it. The banana was, in fact, a work of art by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan titled “Comedian” and sold to a French collector for $120,000. Tagore nephew’s Buddha book now in English
New Delhi: A book by Rabindranath Tagore's nephew Abanindranath, which examines journey of the Buddha through various stages of his life, has been translated into English by Urbi Bhaduri. “Nalak” in its English translation has no chapters. Another feature is a bunch of new illustrations in the pen-and-ink style. Abanindranath created a distinctive Swadeshi style of art at a time when only western models were being imitated in India. Israeli students to launch satellite from India
Jerusalem: Three youngsters from an Israeli school will travel to India next week to launch a satellite — Duchifat 3—designed and built by them aboard PSLV C48 from ISRO’s Sriharikota launch site. Alon Abramovich, Meitav Assulin and Shmuel Aviv Levi, all 17 to 18 years old, will launch the satellite on December 11. Duchifat 3 is the third in the series of Israeli student-made satellites. The satellite is designed to serve children from across the country to “observe the Earth”. PTI
UP plans safaris for better upkeep of bovines
Lucknow: Faced with stray cattle menace, the Uttar Pradesh Government plans to set up 'cow safaris' in the state for better safety and upkeep of the animal The idea mooted by UP Animal and Husbandry minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary is in line with the Yogi government's aim of cow protection. On an experimental basis, 15,000 to 25,000 cows will be put up in a safari. The safaris will be viable by setting up bio gas plants for power generation and units to make things from cow waste. PTI
