Man found dead on-board Shramik Special train in Lucknow

A young man was found unconscious in one of the ‘Shramik Special’ trains coming to Lucknow on Saturday. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead, said Lucknow SP, Railways, Saumitra Yadav.

According to Yadav, the train arrived at Lucknow station at 6.30 pm. It was coming from Dhola in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat.

“The fear of the disease is such that neither any passenger informed us about anyone being sick nor did anyone report about him when the train reached Lucknow,” said the SP.

“It was the police which noticed a man lying unconscious and rushed him to the Balrampur hospital where he was declared brought dead,” he added

Based on his Aadhaar card, the person has been identified as 33-year-old Hira Lal Bind. He is a resident of Jamuhar village in Jaunpur district.

As the co-passengers had already left the train when the police found the man, no detail about him could be ascertained from them, said Yadav.

His body has been kept in a mortuary and police is trying to contact his family in Jaunpur, he informed.

Till now, 97 Shramik Special trains have returned to 36 stations across Uttar Pradesh, bringing back 1.20 lakh migrants in the last few days, said Additional Chief Secretary Avanish Awasthi.

Speaking to mediapersons, Awasthi said the state government has already got the permission to run 98 more trains in the next two days.

Life convict succumbs to virus

Meanwhile, the life convict at the Agra’s Central Jail, who had tested positive for Covid-19 two days ago, succumbed to the disease at Sarojini Naidu Medical College Hospital in Agra on Saturday.

The convict, who belonged to Jhansi, was found positive despite having no contact with visitors or the outside world for the last one and a half month.

The Senior Superintendent, Agra Central Jail, had informed the state’s Director General Prisons that the murder convict was tested positive in RT-PCR test at Agra’s SN Medical College Hospital, where he had been taken following hypertension and brain stroke.

Fourteen other prisoners who had come in his contact have been quarantined.
