BSP national president on Saturday appealed to Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel to take note of security of common people and help establish the rule of law in the state.

Taking cognisance of the brazen incident of the Unnao rape accused setting the victim ablaze, resulting in her death, Mayawati personally met the Governor to present her a memorandum on the behalf of the BSP.

In the brief four-paragraph memo, Mayawati pointed out how the rising incidents of violence against women had shaken the people who were feeling extremely insecure.

She underlined the manner in which women accessing justice were being terrorised, murdered or burnt alive leaving people traumatised. — TNS
