The government said it would facilitate the repatriation of Afghan Hindus and Sikhs as well as locals who had stood by India. “The government will take all steps to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals and our interests in Afghanistan,” assured the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
With commercial operations at Kabul airport suspended, India is awaiting resumption of flights to start the evacuation process. “We are in touch with representatives of Afghan Sikh and Hindu communities. We will facilitate repatriation of those who wish to leave Afghanistan,” the government added. — TNS
