Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the BJP government had done “anyay” (injustice) to “Adivasis” (tribals) in the last five years, but he wants to reverse the trend by doing “nyay” (justice) in the next five years.

Addressing an election rally at Beneshwar Dham in the tribal-dominated constituency of Dungarpur, the Congress president also promised a surgical strike on poverty and give government jobs to 22 lakh people in the next one year if his party is voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections.

He offered prayers at the Shiva temple in Beneshwar Dham, where an annual tribal fair is held.

“Prime Minister Modi did the most injustice to tribals in the past five years. He did not fulfil promises and ran a government for 15-20 rich people,” Gandhi alleged.

According to the Congress president, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts, provide 2 crore jobs every year and a better price for crops to farmers, but did not fulfil any of the commitments.

“In the past five years, they did injustice to poor, tribals, weaker sections and now the Congress wants to give you justice. We will put more than what has been snatched from you by them in the past five years,” the Congress chief added.

“I will take out black money from the accounts of fugitive tycoons and pay to tribals and farmers,” he assured.

Under the Congress’ “Nyay” mission, no defaulter farmer would be sent to jail and rich people like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Anil Ambani not paying debt to banks would be sent behind bars, he assured.

Claiming that the Congress is a party of common man and poor, Rahul said there would be separate “Kisan budget” along with the Union Budget for the welfare of farmers.

To curb red-tapism, young and fresh business entrepreneurs would not be required to take government permission to start their dream project and create jobs for others for first three years, he added.

Party candidates Tarchand Bhagora of Banswara and Raghveer Singh Meena from Udaipur LS constituencies were present along with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot on the dais.

Rajasthan goes to the polls in two phases on April 29 and May 6.
