No decision yet to extend lockdown: Health Ministry

New Delhi, April 7

The central government has taken no decision yet on extending lockdown in the country, the health ministry said.

The ministry’s statement, made in its daily evening briefing, came amid talks that the 21-day nationwide lockdown would be extended.

Joint Secretary for Health Luv Agarwal said cluster containment strategies and action plans for outbreaks, which are amenable to management, are giving required results in some areas like Agra, Gautam Budh Nagar, Bhilwara, East Delhi and Mumbai.

“ICMR’s study suggests 1 COVID-19 patient can infect 406 people in 30 days if he or she doesn’t follow lockdown and social distancing,” the official said in their daily briefing.

The health ministry 324 cases were reported since Monday, taking the number of cases to 4,421. Eight deaths were recorded deaths since Monday, the health ministry said. Agencies
