No info on any group called ‘Tukde Tukde gang’: Govt

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today informed the Lok Sabha that it had no information about any group called the Tukde Tukde gang’.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (MoS) for Home G Kishan Reddy said, “The ministry has no information on whether the terminology ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ is based on specific inputs provided by any of the law enforcement agencies.”

He said, “No such information has been brought to the notice of the government by any law enforcement agency.”

The reply came in response to a question by Congress members Vincent H Pala and Jasbir Singh Gill, who asked whether an organisation called the ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ has been identified and catalogued by the Home Ministry or any Central/state law enforcement agency.

They also asked whether the terminology ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ is based on specific inputs and whether the ministry or intelligence agency has drawn up a list of alleged leaders and members of the “Tukde Tukde Gang”.

Replying to another question, the minister said, “Two roads in Delhi — one at Shaheen Bagh and the other at Chand Bagh — have been blocked by protesters, but no assessment has been made about the loss incurred to the general public due to the blockade.”

Reddy said the Delhi Police had reported that a main road — No 13A Kalindi Kunj — at Shaheen Bagh in Southeast Delhi has been blocked by protesters since December 15, 2019, the day anti-CAA protests began at Shaheen Bagh.

“Besides, a service road in Chand Bagh near Bhajanpura in northeast Delhi has been blocked by protesters since January 18,” he added.

“Appropriate steps are taken by the Delhi Police to maintain public order. No assessment has been done about the loss incurred to the general public due to blocking of road,” he said in a written reply to a question.

Questions raised by Congress MPs

• The questions included whether an organisation called the ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ had been identified and catalogued by the Home Ministry or any Central/state law enforcement agency?
• Whether the terminology ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ is based on specific inputs and whether the ministry or intelligence agency has drawn up a list of alleged leaders and members of the ‘Tukde Tukde Gang.’
