PM: India, Oz must work on scaling up innovation

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 19

A strong India-Australia partnership will play an important role in shaping the post-Covid world, especially by taking the lead in providing circular economy solutions.

“All participants of this circular economy hackathon are winners … We (India and Australia) must explore ways to scale up innovative ideas and must look at consumption patterns and reduce ecological impact,” the Prime Minister said while addressing the virtual valedictory session the “India-Australia Circular Economy Hackathon, 2021”.

Explaining a circular economy, PM Modi said: “Its concepts of recycling, reusing, eliminating waste and improving resource efficiency should become part of our lifestyle.”

There were over 1,000 registrations for the hackathon from the two countries on four challenge themes — food waste, metal waste, packaging waste and plastic waste. As many as 72 teams participated in a three-day hackathon with Indian winners receiving cash awards. — TNS
