The Congress on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of interfering with the investigation into the ongoing CBI controversy, asking why did he call the chiefs of CBI and RAW to his residence yesterday?
"The PM's role in the matter is under a cloud. Everyone is looking for a fair investigation of the serious charges of corruption involving the senior-most officers of the CBI and RAW. It also needs to be investigated as to who in the current political dispensation is involved in the entire saga and attempting to shield the accused involved in the matter? Instead, the Prime Minister is illegally and unconstitutionally interfering in the investigation," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said. The Congress said the role of the Central Vigilance Commission was doubtful.
Why is the CVC shying away from its statutory obligation of acting impartially and decisively to punish wrongdoing, asked the party adding whether or not the PM is systematically demolishing all premier agencies including CBI, ED, Serious Frauds Investigation Office, Central Board of Direct Taxes, National Investigation Agency and the Income Tax Department?
