The government today said illegal Rohingya migrants posed a threat to national security and there were reports that some of them indulged in illegal activities in the country.

Responding to a written question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Nityanand Rai said, “Illegal migrants (including Rohingya) pose a threat to national security. There are reports about some Rohingya migrants indulging in illegal activities.”

“Foreign nationals who enter the country without valid travel documents or whose travel documents expire while staying in India are treated as illegal migrants and are dealt with as per existing legal provisions,” he added. — TNS
