The RSS today mobilised support of the Muslim community for the construction of Ram Temple through its proxy — Muslim Rashtriya Manch — as it escalated pressure on the government for expeditious construction either through adjudication or ordinance.

The manch, whose patron is RSS key national functionary Indresh Kumar, at its national convention announced a movement favouring construction of the temple.

The participants did hand-holding among themselves to express solidarity to the cause. The convention resolved to take the message to villages across the country.

A march was taken out, and pro-temple slogans raised, topped up by rendering of national anthem.

The RSS-backed show may add to the worries of the government, which is already facing the heat from the Opposition on an array of issues.

The event was on the back of a major rally organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad here a week ago addressed by RSS top functionary Suresh “Bhaiyyaji” Joshi.

A memorandum was sent to authorities, including President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India, pressing for an early denouement to the temple issue.

Addressing the gathering, Indresh Kumar cautioned the ruling BJP of backlash from people and dismal electoral fate akin to the recent Assembly elections.

“All political parties must realise the sense of frustration among people, including Muslim community, at the delay in construction of the temple. They should not be under any illusion to attribute the electoral results to NOTA,” Indresh Kumar said.

His message was apparently directed to all political parties, more so the BJP.
