Sena MP’s resignation accepted; Javadekar given additional charge

NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant while PM Narendra Modi allocated his portfolio to Prakash Javadekar.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant while Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated his portfolio to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.

The President, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of  Arvind Ganpat Sawant from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, an official statement said.

Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Prakash Javadekar, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, in addition to his existing portfolios, it added.

Javadekar holds the I&B and Environment ministries in the Modi government.
