Delhi Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent photoshoot at Jim Corbett saying that the prime minister was busy “modeling” when the rest of country mourned the Pulwama martyrs.

Sisodia, who was referring to a recent militant attack that killed 40 troopers of the CRPF in Pulwama, was speaking at Delhi Assembly on Saturday.

“This country's PM has been on a photoshoot wearing nine different suits during the last nine days at a time when our government is working hard in Delhi despite obstacles,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader told the House during the discussion on motion of thanks on Lt Governor Anil Baijal’s address in the Delhi Assembly’s Budget session.

Sisodia’s scathing attack came in response to Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta’s jibes on and criticism of the Delhi’s ruling party.

Gupta accused the AAP government of deliberately blocking the expansion of the Delhi Metro Phase IV for four years and demanded a white paper on the same from the government.

At treasury benches’ retort that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal had already listed AAP’s achievements, Gupta said it was a “constitutional obligation that the L-G was bound by, and had little choice”.

AAP legislator Rakhi Bidlan meanwhile accused the L-G of trying to “block” the state government’s projects.

Mocking the L-G, she said: “Instead of speaking my government, he actually wanted to speak about how he tried his best to stop various development initiatives and projects of the government, from acquiring land for government schools, installing CCTV cameras and construction of mohalla clinics”.

Bidlan, also the deputy assembly speaker, also took a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. She said it was in fact the AAP government in Delhi that had “truly achieved it” referring to city government's last year launched pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens.

“Following his Modi-dharam, he (L-G) also blocked the regularisation of guest teachers,” the AAP MLA alleged, adding that the AAP government managed to take “education in Delhi to greater heights despite these attempts”.
