The Central Margdarshak Mandal (CMDM) of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday announced a nationwide campaign from January 15 to raise funds through donations from public for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
The CMDM, which consists of saints and seers, is the supreme counselling body of the VHP.
The decision for the campaign was taken at its two-day session, which concluded today.
“The saints and seers will visit with four lakh villages and touch base with 11 crore people for donations. People will donate as per their will and capacity,” CMDM top leader Swami Avdeshanand Giri said after the session.
It lauded Union government’s plan to renovate dilapidated and shattered shrines and temples in Jammu and Kashmir after abolishing Articles 370 and 35A.
It also hailed government for ringing in the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
The CMDM urged the state governments to enact anti-conversion law with stringent provisions.
“The law must have a provision of one-month gestation period to verify of the applicant wishing conversion was not during under duress.”
The session condemned the recent shooting dead of a woman of Hindu faith by a person of different religion in broad daylight in Ballabgarh in Haryana on her allegedly spurning his marriage offer.
It noted that incidents of “love jihad” inspired by religious terrorism, religious conversion activities, by Christian missionary and anti-national campaign by naxalites have intensified.
The CMDM also decided to facilitate “ghar wapsi”- return of persons, who proselytised from Hinduism to other faiths, back to Hindu fold.
Expressing concern at the killing of two seers in Palghar (Maharashtra) by crowd of anti-national elements in presence of policen in April, the CMDM attributed it to nexus between proactive Church (NGO) and political force.
Flaying the Maharashtra government for allegedly trying to hush up the case, it demanded handing over the probe to the CBI.
“The state government was trying to muzzle the voices raising the Palghar incident,” Giri said.
