10 trains remain cancelled

Ludhiana, February 16

It was another miserable day for rail passengers, especially those traveling on trunk route of Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi as the pair of 12459/60 New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express, along with eight other long-route trains, were cancelled for the day by the railway authorities.

With last-minute cancellation of the intercity train to New Delhi, passengers with confirmed reservation tickets had to face hardship as other trains on that route were already running to capacity and the Railways were not in a position to accommodate stranded passengers on any alternate train. Many of the passengers intending to travel by morning train to New Delhi from the city had to shell out a lot more for travelling by road through buses or shared taxis.

According to railway officials, in addition to the pair of Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity trains 13151/52 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Sealdah Express, 14606 Jammu Tawi-Haridwar Express, 14617/18 Banmankhi-Amritsar-Banmankhi Jansewa Express, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express, 19614 Amritsar-Ajmer Express and 22424 Amritsar-Gorakhpur Jansadhdran Express trains remained cancelled.

The pair of 14609/10 Rishikesh-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Hemkunt Express, which has been on a truncated run for quite some time now, remained partially cancelled between Rishikesh and Haridwar.

Further, two train - 12752 Jammu Tawi-Nanded Humsafar Express (2.05 hrs) and 12926 Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Pashchim Express (1.30 hrs) were rescheduled while three trains – 15708 Amritsar-Katihar Amrapali Express (between Ambala Cantt and Aligarh), 22429/30 Delhi-Pathankot-Delhi Express (between Ludhiana and Ambala Cantt) were diverted via alternate route.

Trains running late

• 4 to 6 hrs: 12751 Nanded-Jammu Tawi Humsafar Express, 22551 Darbhanga-Jalandhar Antyodaya Express.
• 1 to 3 hrs: 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak Express, 14603 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansadharan Express, 01709 Jabalpur-Attari Special Express, 12926 Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Pashchim Express, 12357 Kolkata-Amritsar Durgiana Express, 12355 Patna-Jammu Tawi Archana Express, 12925 Bandra Terminus-Amritsar Pashchim Express, 12715 Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express.
