Chandigarh, February 20
A committee of Panjab University, under the chairmanship of the Dean University Instructions (DUI), yesterday discussed whether Hindi should be made an option for students for submission of their PhD thesis in science and technological subjects.
The committee members unanimously decided that not only Hindi but Punjabi should also be given as language choice to students for submitting their PhD thesis.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) had written a letter to the PU Vice-Chancellor to allow students of science and technological subjects to write their PhD thesis in Hindi to promote the language. — TNS
