One arrested for smuggling opium

The Phillaur police have arrested a person for peddling drugs and recovered one kg of opium from him on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Jaspal Singh, a resident of Begowal. SSP (Rural) Navjot Singh Mahal said a case had been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. OC

765 boxes of illicit liquor recovered

The Phillaur police have held a person for smuggling liquor and recovered 765 boxes of illicit liquor from him on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Gurdip Singh, a resident of Rajpura. SSP (Rural) Navjot Mahal said the accused was nabbed at a ‘naka’ near Goraya when he was coming on a canter. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act. His canter has also been impounded. OC

250 intoxicating capsules seized, 1 arrested

The Phillaur police have arrested a person for peddling drugs and recovered 250 intoxicating capsules from him on Thursday. The accused, Sunny Sethi, is a resident of Onkar Nagar, Phagwara. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. OC
