At Rs 11.4 cr, Mohali civic bodies collect record property tax dues in 19 days
The Urban Local Bodies of the district have collected a record Rs 11.43 crore in property tax dues within just 19 days.
The Punjab Government’s One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme has helped post major recovery as it offers significant relief on pending property tax.
As per the data, from July 1 to July 19, 2025, the municipal councils across the district recorded collections as follows: Banur civic body Rs 17.02 lakh, Dera Bassi civic body Rs 96.45 lakh, Kurali civic body Rs 22.25 lakh, Kharar civic body Rs 2.09 crore, Lalru civic body Rs 12.39 lakh, Nayagaon civic body Rs 32.50 lakh and Zirakpur civic body Rs 7.53 crore.
Under the OTS scheme, residents with unpaid or partially paid property tax dues till March 31, 2025, can avail full waiver of penalty and interest if they clear the principal amount in full by July 31, 2025. If the dues are paid between August 1 and October 31, 2025, then 50 per cent of the penalty and interest will be waived. After October 31, full penalty and interest as per applicable laws will be reinstated.
In view of the overwhelming response, the municipal corporation or council offices will remain open on weekends to facilitate citizens who are otherwise busy during weekdays till July 31.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal, meanwhile, urged all residents to take full advantage of the scheme by visiting their respective civic authorities and clearing their outstanding property tax dues within the stipulated period.
