All government schools in the district held parent-teacher meeting on the lines of private schools on Friday. Such meetings are not frequently conducted in the state-run schools, unlike the private ones.
The teachers of government schools had already made announcements for parents to visit schools of their wards. The students came with their parents to the schools.
The aim of the meet was to inform parents on the academic progress made by their children.
“The teachers had made arrangements for parents and they were served with refresh-
ments,” said District Education Officer Salwinder Singh.
The parents were given special welcome, classrooms were decorated to make the meet special. The parents were told about the development of the school and infrastructure work created in the school. The names of parents will also be displayed in certain schools.
Some schools also released their school magazines and held interactions with the District Education Officer.
