Patiala, August 21

A day after the murder of Vikramjit Singh, the Patiala police have booked 11 accused. They have named seven persons, including two women, while five persons remain unidentified in the murder case of a 24-year-old, who was hacked to death, while his father was greviously injured following a brawl between neighbours.

The police said they had registered an FIR in this regard.

They named Parwinder, Gurpal, Jaswinder, Rohit, Kulwinder Kaur and Anjali, along with the unidentified persons for allegedly attacking and murdering Vikramjit and greviously injuring his father Harjinder Singh.

The FIR was registered on the complaint filed by Harjinder, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The police are conducting raids to arrest the accused in the Baran area. The victim was to fly to Italy on a work visa in 10 days. He worked as a nursing assistant at a private hospital.

Vikramjit, who returned home after celebrating his birthday with his friends on Monday evening, was dragged out and attacked by his neighbours on a minor issue. “When he reached home, the neighbours had some a verbal argument which later turned bloody. My son entered the house, when the neighbours came home with some persons and dragged my son out. They then hit him with rods and an axe,” said the mother of the victim.

The father of the victim Harjinder who went to save his son was also attacked and injured in the attack. Anaj Mandi police station is probing the case.
