12 contacts of Patiala resident quarantined, 6 samples taken

As many as 12 Ambala residents, known contacts who came in contact with 21-year-old Patiala resident who was tested positive for Covid-19, have been shifted to quarantine facility by the Health Department on Sunday. The Patiala youth had a travel history of Nepal.

The youth had visited his aunt at a village in Ambala, after he was tested positive, the officials of the Health Department reached the village late last night to get information and today shifted 12 persons to quarantine facility. These people will remain at the facility for 14 days.

The Health Department has also taken samples of six people, who came in his contact, for testing including of Patiala youth’s father, two cousin brothers, one co-passenger (who came with him from Nepal), and two patients who were in the same isolation room with him.

His was isolated at the hospital after he developed cough and sore throat in the morning. A clinic where the positive patient had first visited has also been sealed and the doctor has been advised to not to check the patients for next 14 days.

Besides these, four members of another family in Ambala Cantonment have also been shifted to quarantine facility after a guest who visited them recently was tested positive in Rajasthan.

Chief Medical Officer Kuldeep Singh said, “ The district administration and the CMO, Patiala, have been already informed about the positive case and they have been asked to do the needful at their level. A total of 16 persons have been shifted to quarantine facilities. If the persons who have been shifted to quarantine facilities show any symptoms then their samples will also be sent. It has been decided that if any suspect already under home quarantine, violates the quarantine norms, will be shifted to facility quarantine forcefully by district administration in public interest.”

A total of 39 samples have been sent till today of which 32 have been tested negative, one positive, who belong to Punjab, and reports of six samples are yet to arrive.


Travelled by Haryana Roadways bus, ate food in Pipli

Samples of six persons, who work at a hotel in Kurukshetra where the Patiala youth who was found Covid positive in Ambala had stopped to have food, have been taken for testing. As per the information, the youth was on his way from Delhi in a Haryana Roadways bus and had food at a hotel at Pipli. CMO Sukhbir Singh said, “We have taken samples of six persons who were on duty at that Hotel that day. Though they have not shown any symptoms yet, they have been quarantined.” So far 12 samples have been taken in Kurukshetra of which six have been tested negative the results of remaining are yet to arrive. In Kurukshetra, 149 people who have travel history are under surveillance while 45 are yet to be traced.
