Patiala, April 8
The district police have registered two cases of causing death by negligence after two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Shambhu and Patran.
The police said Nagendra Sahni, a resident of Kabulpur village in Patiala, was on his way near Chalheri village when his bicycle was hit by a truck driven by Kulwinder Singh of Chalheri village. They said he was admitted to a hospital, but later died at his home. The police have registered a case against the truck driver under Section 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
In another case, the police said a man was hit by an unidentified vehicle while he was crossing a road near a taxi stand in Patran. He died during treatment at Government Rajindra Hospital here yesterday. They said they had registered an FIR against an unidentified person under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. — TNS
