Patiala, March 27

Two suspected patients of coronavirus (Covid-19), who were admitted to Government Rajindra Hospital tested negative today. As a result, no positive case has been detected in the district to date. The Health Department said, “Strict measures have been taken to ensure that people under home-quarantine are checked regularly.” The department said suspected women had come back from Australia and admitted to the hospital on Thursday after they showed symptoms of Covid-19.

Patiala Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said the duo aged between 56 and 61 years tested negative. “No positive case has been reported so far in the district. The department is doing its best. People should stay indoors to save themselves from Covid-19,” he added.

The Civil Surgeon urged residents to immediately report about suspected cases to the Health Department instead of visiting quacks. “Any person, who has travelled abroad or is in close contact with suspected patient should visit the health centre. People should not fall prey to quacks,” he said.
