2 thieves held, jewellery recovered

Fatehgarh Sahib Police have arrested two thieves, who stole gold jewellery worth lakhs and cash from the dera of a mahant in Sirhind. The police recovered a gold chain locket, a gold bracelet, a diamond set, six diamond rings, three gold rings, three pairs of gold tops, whereas the cash is yet to be recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, of Sonepat district and Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Rajpura. Addressing the media, Fatehgarh Sahib DSP Sukhnaz Singh said Seerat Mahant of Dalichi Mohalla in Sirhind had launched a complaint that on the intervening night of August 15-16 someone entered the dera and stole her bag from, containing many gold and diamond ornaments and cash.
He said the police started an investigation and during the scrutiny of the CCTV cameras footage it was found that one person entered the house and he was identified as Pradeep Kumar, an old servant of the dera. He said a case was registered and a police team, led by SHO Fatehgarh Sahib Manpreet Singh Deol succeeded in nabbing Pradeep. He said during his preliminary interrogation Pradeep revealed he had kept the stolen jewellery and cash with his partner, Gurdeep.
He said the police also arrested Gurdeep and on his disclosure they recovered a gold chain locket, a gold bracelet, a diamond set, six diamond rings, three gold rings and three pairs of gold tops.
