25 families reunited at Lok Adalat in Patiala

As many as 25 families were able to return home to lead happy and harmonious lives following the intervention of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority at the National Lok Adalat. The Lok Adalat was organised at the district courts of Patiala and its subdivisions.

The District Legal Services Authority organised the National Lok Adalat pertaining to all types of cases (except non-compoundable criminal cases), in which Justice Deepak Sibal, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court visited the benches.

Justice Deepak Sibal also participated in the proceedings of the courts along with District and Sessions Judge, Rupinderjit Chahal. As many as 189 cases in the Family Court and the bench were settled.

On this occasion, Justice Deepak Sibal urged parties with pending cases in family courts to put aside past conflicts and reunite for the sake of their children’s future. His intervention has facilitated the amicable settlement of disputes among families, enabling them to reconcile and live together once again. As a result, 25 families were able to return home to lead happy and harmonious lives, stated a release issued by the district courts.

Addressing mediapersons, Sibal emphasised that holding Lok Adalats at regular intervals raised public awareness about their benefits and also helped reduce the burden of pending cases in courts.

In this National Lok Adalat, 25 judicial benches, including 16 in Patiala, four in Rajpura, three in Nabha and two in Samana, were constituted in the district. Separate benches of Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services) were also constituted for speedy disposal of pending cases. During this National Lok Adalat, 42,716 cases were taken up under different categories, and 21,529 cases were settled through mutual compromise.
