Patiala, July 21

As many as 38 frontline health workers, including ASHA workers, doctors and nurses, have tested positive for Covid-19 in the district till date.

46 fresh cases in patiala take tally to 1,092

Meanwhile, 46 fresh Covid cases were reported from Patiala on Tuesday. Of the total, 31 patients are from Patiala city, three from Nabha, four from Samana and three from Rajpura. Besides, five cases were reported from various villages in the district. The total number of cases in the district rose to 1,092.

The Patiala Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said it was a matter of serious concern as frontline health workers were also struggling in the fight against coronavirus. Five sanitation workers and one anganwadi worker had also contracted the infection.

Besides, 22 police personnel have also contracted the disease so far.

Harish said: “All health workers have recovered. I am thankful to each frontline worker for their grit and determination. They are fighting it fearlessly.”
