Patiala, July 10
The spike in the number of Covid-19 cases from Top Khana Mor, a micro-containment zone, and adjoining areas has become a cause of worry for the Health Department.
A total of 41 cases were reported from the district today. Thirty-seven patients are from Top Khana Mor and adjoining areas, of which 16 are from one family.
The Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said they had declared Jejian Wali Gali a micro-containment zone after the surfacing of several Covid cases from the area.
Dr Harish Malhotra said, “We will declare more areas around Top Khana Mor micro-containment zones as cases are continuously being reported from there. We request people to follow guidelines and wear a mask.”
He said 31 cases were contacts of already positive patients, three were from OPD wards, two with influenza-like symptoms and one an inter-state traveller. He said four Patiala residents were taking treatment for Covid at the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
