The district today reported 47 fresh cases of Covid-19, taking the tally of active cases to 236.
Among the new cases, 37 surfaced in Patiala city alone. Kallon Majra reported three cases, Nabha and Dudhan Sadhan blocks two cases each and Rajpura, Shutrana and Kauli blocks a case each.
Health officials said the positivity rate had climbed to 13 per cent. The Health Department informed that the district had continuously been reporting high number of positive cases over the past few weeks.
Health officials said many people, despite being symptomatic, were reluctant on getting themselves tested for Covid. Doctors said people were unfortunately avoiding the Covid test and indulging in self-medication.
Civil Surgeon Raju Dhir reiterated that people should not take the deadly coronavirus lightly and stick to Covid-appropriate behaviour to avoid further surge in COVID cases in the district. He said, “Besides, eligible beneficiaries should get themselves vaccinated with the precautionary dose.”
