Patiala, July 21
Nine passengers were injured when a bus of the PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), in which they were travelling, crashed into a stationary tanker on the Patiala-Chandigarh national highway this morning.
The injured were rushed to the Government Rajindra Hospital. The doctors referred two of the injured to the PGI, Chandigarh.
The police said a PRTC bus had broken down at the spot, and the tanker rammed into it on Wednesday night. No one was injured as there were no passengers in the bus. The tanker driver had fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. Both vehicles couldn’t be removed from the spot due to the rain.
On Thursday morning, the PRTC bus, coming from the Patiala side, crashed into the tanker.
Four cranes were pressed into service to remove the vehicles. Traffic had to be diverted for over two hours. The police are investigating the matter.
