Aspirants from across the region flocked to Patiala today to appear for the NEET-PG exam, which was conducted in two sessions—one in the morning and another in the evening. The exam, overseen by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), witnessed a significant turnout, with approximately two lakh students from all over the country taking part.

The examination centre, located on the Patiala-Rajpura Road near Bahadurgarh, witnessed a surge of activity as vehicles lined on both sides of the highway, causing significant traffic congestion. Anxious parents were seen waiting outside the centres, braving the elements. The police present was cordoning off the area to ensure security. Fire safety arrangements were also in place to address any potential emergencies.

The weather played a significant role in the day’s events as heavy rainfall added to the stress of reaching the examination centre on time. Several relatives of the aspirants recounted their struggle, describing how they battled through the downpour to ensure their children reached the venue. Many students arrived at the exam centre fully drenched, further heightening the tension of an already nerve-wracking day.

Parents of the candidates expressed their frustration with the scheduling of the exam during the monsoon season. They argued that the exam should have been held in September to avoid the complications caused by the heavy rains, which made travel difficult for many.

Following the controversy earlier this year when the NBEMS had to cancel the NEET-PG 2024 exam just 12 hours before its scheduled time on June 23 due to a paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, today’s test was particularly significant. The cancellation had left many aspirants in limbo, making today’s exam all the more crucial.

With the exams now concluded, the aspirants and their families await the results, hoping their efforts in battling the elements and the pressure will bear fruit.
