Police teams are probing all possible angles, including whether Mangla left behind a suicide note
BJP leader from the city, Anil Mangla, has gone missing under suspicious circumstances since Tuesday evening. His scooter and personal belongings, including his purse, were discovered near the Bhakra Canal in Pasiana.
Police teams are actively searching the area, and special divers have been deployed to comb the canal, as authorities suspect he may have jumped in an apparent suicide attempt.
The family reported him missing after repeated phone calls went unanswered.
Several BJP leaders, including state Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur visited the spot to oversee the search operation. Police teams are probing all possible angles, including whether Mangla left behind a suicide note and if he was facing any blackmail, financial distress or other pressures that may have driven him to take the extreme step.
