Patiala, August 11

As the strike by the staff of various government departments entered its Day 6, visitors were a harried lot.

Public Services were severely hit because clerical staff of the Public Works Department (PWD), Treasury, Irrigation, Excise, Transport and Revenue Departments are on a strike till August 14. Amirk Singh Bhanri, a visitor to the Transport Department, said: “I have to submit documents related to the registration of buses, but I can’t. People are harried due to the strike. The government should do something to resolve the issue.”

Gurmeet Singh Walia, president, Minister Staff (PWD), said: “The government should fulfil our demands otherwise we will continue the strike.” — TNS
