CM Mann to unfurl Tricolour at Polo Ground on R-Day
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will unfurl the national flag during the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Polo Ground here on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav and SSP Nanak Singh reviewed the full-dress rehearsal and confirmed that preparations were complete.
The parade will include 12 contingents, led by Parade Commander ASP Vineet Ahlawat. Participating contingents include ITBP, PAP Jalandhar, Patiala District Police (male and female), Home Guards, NCC (Air Wing, Army Wing and Girls Battalion. Bands from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy and the First IRB Patiala will also perform.
Following the parade, 10 tableaux highlighting developmental initiatives will be showcased. Students from various schools, including Government Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School and Mukat Public School Rajpura, will present cultural performances. Traditional dances like giddha and bhangra, along with a Gatka performance will add vibrancy to the event.
The Chief Minister will honour freedom fighters, families of martyrs and individuals for exceptional contributions in various fields. Electronic tricycles and sewing machines will be distributed to the needy. Parade participants will also be recognised for their performances. SSP Dr Nanak Singh, assured that strong security measures were in place for the event. Dr Yadav urged residents to participate enthusiastically in the celebrations.
