CPF employees to gherao Vidhan Sabha on March 5

Fatehgarh Sahib, March 2

A meeting of the CPF (Central Provident Fund) employee’s union was organised under the chairmanship of state vice president Jarnail Singh Aujla. The union members decided to ‘gherao’ the Vidhan Sabha on March 5 for the restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS).

Aujla said the CPF employees are resentful of the Punjab Government as it has not implemented the old pension scheme so far. He said members of the union decided that they would organise a gherao of the Punjab Assembly on March 5, adding that they would gather at YPS Chowk in Mohali and move towards the Assembly. The district president of the PSMSU, Lakhbir Bhatti, said the AAP had promised the implementation of the old pension scheme prior to the elections, adding that they have failed to do so which has caused the union to take this step.
