Patiala, July 18
The Patiala Municipal Corporation today started visiting various parts of the city to check dengue menace. It issued two challans where dengue larvae were found.
Officials said the drive against dengue would now be intensified and MC officials, along with staff of the District Health Department, would visit respective sites to check mosquito breeding.
Joint Commissioner Jeevanjot Kaur held a meeting with MC sanitary staff and officials of the District Health Department.
She said it was important to destroy dengue larvae and spread awareness among the public about it. She directed the staff to issue challans to residents wherever dengue larvae were found.
Health officials said they found dengue larvae at 19 places in the city. The larvae were destroyed on the spot.
According to the corporation, its staff visited 22 locations and found larvae at two places. Owners of both properties were issued challans.
Jeevanjot said: “The MC has divided the city into seven sectors to ensure cleanliness. Sanitary inspectors of the respective sectors will issue challans to owners of properties in collaboration with health officials.”
She said people would have to pay the challan fee at the Municipal Corporation office. Those who failed to do so, their cases would be sent to court for disposal.
