Patiala, July 24
The Health Wing of the Patiala Municipal Corporation issued 92 challans within a week after dengue larvae were found in various areas of the district.
The Health Wing swung into action after lapses in its working to check breeding of dengue larvae were pointed out.
Officials said the MC team, along with officials of the Health Department, identified dengue larvae during checking drives and issued challans.
Earlier, the MC had failed to issue challans due to lack of coordination between the Health Wing of the MC and the District Health Department.
The officials said: “The Health Wing has issued 92 challans within a week. Most of the challans were issued in densely populated areas such as Ragho Majra, Khalsa Mohalla, Arya Samaj, Dhanka mohalla, Krishna Street and Jattan Wala Chontra. The teams found
dengue larvae in water kept for birds on rooftops, empty planters and refrigerator trays.”
MC officials said the first-time offender was issued a challan of Rs 500.
They said along with anti-larvae spray, the MC had also been carrying out fogging daily to ward off dengue.
