Development works worth Rs 13 crore approved by Patiala MC committee

Development works worth approximately Rs 13 crore were approved to improve the city's infrastructure and overall appearance during the Finance and Contract Committee meeting (F&CC) of the Patiala Municipal Corporation held on Wednesday.
Mayor Kundan Gogia, Municipal Commissioner Paramjit Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli and other senior officials of the corporation were also present during the meeting. The most significant project discussed was the mechanised road cleaning system aimed at enhancing sanitation standards. Mechanical sweeping machines will be purchased to clean the inner roads of the city and make them dust-free, for which a budget of approximately Rs 11.18 crore has been allocated.
It was informed that these machines will be capable of cleaning 6 to 8 km of road per hour. Water sprinkling will also be carried out during cleaning to prevent dust from rising.
To ensure safe drinking water for residents, a work order worth Rs 61.16 lakh was issued for water purification using sodium hypochlorite. Additionally, Rs 13.36 lakh was approved for installing a new borewell in Green Lehar Colony, Ward 49.
Several key development projects were also approved, including Rs 11.09 lakh for installation of street lights in Tafazzalpura Park, Rs 16.88 lakh for construction of the main road in Sunny Enclave, Rs 30 lakh for laying pavement concrete on village roads in Chhota Araai Majra, Ward 36, Rs 8.97 lakh for road repairs from Kedarnath Temple to Kapoor Chowk in Ward 32, Rs13 lakh for bore installation in Green Lehar Colony, Ward 49.
