The Punjab Governor has announced the appointment of Dr Pushpinder Singh Gill as the Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala, for a tenure of three years.

The appointment was made by the Chancellor of MBSPSU. The official notification was issued on February 8 by Vivek Pratap Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary to Governor, Punjab.

Dr Gill brings over 36 years of experience in academia, research, administration, and international consulting to the position. A retired professor from Punjabi University, Patiala, he has served in various leadership capacities.

Dr Gill holds a doctorate from Punjabi University, Patiala, specializing in “Marketing Executive Effectiveness In Relation To Job Involvement And Locus of Control.”

He completed his MBA in Marketing and Material Management and BA Honours in Economics from Punjabi University, Patiala.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
