Ensure seamless power supply: Tarunpreet Sond to officials

Punjab Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted and adequate power supply to farmers across the state so that agricultural operations were carried out smoothly without any inconvenience.

He also assured adequate electricity supply to farmers during the paddy season starting in June.

Soon after assuming charge at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) headquarters on Wednesday, he chaired a review meeting with senior officials of the department to assess the preparedness for the paddy season.

Sond said the state government was fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and providing seamless power supply during the paddy season. He said the government had already been making continuous efforts to strengthen the power sector and further improve consumer services.

He instructed officials to expedite the upgrade and maintenance of the power infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to minimise power cuts and enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply.

He asked the officials to maintain close coordination at all levels to tackle any issue on a priority during the peak demand season.

Sond reiterated that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government was continuously working towards modernising the power infrastructure.
