Family of deceased farmer handed over Rs 3 lakh cheque
Sirhind Market Committee chairman Gurwinder Singh Dhillon today handed over a cheque of Rs 3 lakh to a family of farmer of Jallah village. Earlier, he handed over Rs 2 lakh cheque to one Harbans Kaur, after accidental death of her husband, who was a farmer.
Dhillon said mandi board provides financial assistance to the family of a farmer in case he died accidently doing agricultural work. He said the market committee was an institution of commission agents, farmers and labourers, which provides financial assistance from time to time in case of death of farmer in any kind of accident.
He said during the current financial year, the Sirhind Market Committee had given Rs 2 lakh to Harbans Kaur after death of her husband. He said a young farmer Sukhbir Singh of Jallah village had died in September 2024 due to electric shock from a motor. He said his wife Amanjot Kaur and mother Malkit Kaur were provided financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh.
He said the Punjab Mandi Board was working diligently in the service of farmers. He said if any farmer, labourer or agent needed any service from the Sirhind Market Committee, he could contact his office any time.
Baljinder Singh, father of deceased farmer, Sirhind Market Committee secretary Harinder Singh Gill, accountant Gurmail Singh, Dalbir Singh, AAP block president Balbir Singh Sodhi and Harinder Singh Bains were also present on the occasion.
